Contact Government Services in Boston, MA is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server across on-premises and virtualized environments. The role emphasizes replication, backups, performance tuning, and SQL Server integration services in a government-focused setting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate on large projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience related directly to SQL Server Database Administration.
• Experience with visualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Experience and knowledge related to source/change control, bug tracking, SDLC, and integration of Relational Databases.
• Ability to document, explain, and present any task related to decisions and processes.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore procedures, Capacity Planning, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2016.
• Provide all aspects of basic systems administration support including planning, installations, and configurations of new hardware and software.
• Recommend/implement solutions for SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
• Implement, deploy, and/or support Microsoft Technologies such as Visual Studio Framework, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and Web Services.
• Support visualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, creating and configuring virtual machines.
• Perform backups of the web, application, and database servers per MPA policies with daily increments and weekly full backups.
• Perform database monitoring, space management, and provide extended support for database systems.
