Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Specialty Mechanical Equipment Engineer for the Oak Ridge Group to design specialty machinery and lead complex projects in a nuclear environment. The role demands extensive experience and mastery of CAD/CAE tools such as SOLIDWORKS, Creo, and ANSYS, plus solid knowledge of quality systems.

The position is located in Oak Ridge, TN with potential travel; hybrid or remote work could be possible by arrangement based on project needs and role requirements.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience
• B.S. Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Knowledge and experience with specialized mechanical equipment
• Experience managing scope, schedule, and budget for projects
• Adherence to established quality procedures
• Experience with ISO 9000 or NQA-1 quality systems
• Knowledge of machine design and selection of components
• Mentoring specialty mechanical engineers
• Clear communication of complex ideas to management and clients
• Competent using SOLIDWORKS, Creo, ANSYS and MS Office
• US citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Intermittent sitting, standing, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
• Travel may be required to sites and facilities
• Office-based work in a secure engineering environment
• Hybrid or remote work may be available by agreement
