Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Early Career Specialty Mechanical Engineer to support Nuclear Projects in Oak Ridge, TN. You will work with mid and senior engineers to design systems, develop drawings, specs, and calculations for critical DOE and industrial projects.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, understanding of machine design, and a willingness to learn SolidWorks and calculation tools. Remote-friendly with strong site access at Oak Ridge.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering BS Degree from an accredited university.
• General understanding of machine design and machine drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing machine drawings (ASME Y14.5).
• Define material specifications for systems and components.
• Prepare equipment specifications for projects.
• Perform stress analysis calculations for mechanical systems.
• Develop material handling specs for conveyors, hoists, cranes, lifts, etc.
• Support containment design with gloveboxes, hoods, hot cells, etc.
• Coordinate with teams to ensure compliance with codes and customer requirements.
• Conduct field inspections and walkdowns of existing systems.
