Job summary

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, seeks an Early Career Specialty Mechanical Engineer to support Nuclear Projects. You will work with mid-to-senior engineers on designs for mechanical systems, including containment, remote handling, and field inspections, leveraging SolidWorks and ASME Y14.5 standards.

The role supports in-office or remote work with a preference for the Oak Ridge, Tennessee location. U.S.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering BS degree from an accredited university.
• General understanding of machine design and machine drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing machine drawings (ASME Y14.5).
• Prepare material and equipment specifications.
• Support stress analysis calculations.
• Develop material handling specifications for conveyors, hoists, cranes, lifts.
• Assist in remote handling equipment design/specifications for pick-and-place robots and gantries.
• Support containment design using gloveboxes, hoods, hot cells, etc.
• Oversee system design for code and customer requirements.
• Conduct field inspections and walkwaydowns of existing mechanical systems.
