Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare is looking for a dedicated inpatient coder to review, analyze, and code hospital records, ensuring accurate ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for inpatient services. The role supports the transition to ICD-10 across facilities and requires relevant coding credentials and experience.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of coding experience, AHIMA credentialing, and knowledge of inpatient coding practices in a multi-facility setting.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
  • Coding certificate program (AHIMA accredited) is preferred.
  • 1 year of coding experience is required.
  • Remote coding experience is preferred.
  • One or more certifications - RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, CPC, CIC, CPC-A, CPC-H are required.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes, and codes documentation for hospital inpatient medical records to select and sequence ICD-9-CM diagnosis, ICD-9-CM procedure codes, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS as applicable to the transition to ICD-10.
  • Primary coding responsibility is Inpatient Coding.

Education

  • Coding Certificate program (AHIMA accredited) Preferred
Work Experience
  • 1 year of coding experience Required
  • Experience in coding at a multi-facility organization and remote coding experience is Preferred
