Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Denver, CO to lead structural analysis efforts for spacecraft components from concept through qualification. You will perform detailed FEA, develop hand calculations, and validate models against test data to ensure robustness under launch and in-orbit conditions.

Applicants should have a strong foundation in solid mechanics and dynamics, plus experience with space hardware and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of professional experience in structural analysis in space/aerospace/high-performance environments.
• Expert proficiency with FEA software such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or Abaqus.
• Demonstrated experience performing classical hand calculations for stress analysis.
• Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, dynamics, and material science.
• Experience analyzing hardware for launch and operational space environments.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute the structural analysis for critical spacecraft components and assemblies from concept to verification.
• Perform detailed FEA to model stress, strain, deformation, and modal response of complex systems.
• Conduct hand calculations and analytical models to anchor FEA results.
• Analyze hardware for static, dynamic, and thermo-elastic loads.
• Support development and execution of structural test plans and testing (static, vibration, shock).
• Correlate analysis models with test data to refine predictive accuracy.
• Collaborate with design engineers to improve mass and stiffness while meeting requirements.
• Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers in structural analysis.
