Job summary

CesiumAstro in Westminster, Colorado is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer II to lead end-to-end mechanical design and analysis for spacecraft subsystems from concept to flight readiness. You will collaborate with a small team to develop robust, manufacturable hardware for next-generation satellites.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 6+ years in spacecraft mechanical engineering, with CAD/FEA, thermal design, EMI/EMC mitigation and LEO experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 6+ years in spacecraft mechanical engineering including electronics packaging, thermal, shock and vibration.
• Experience with architectural trade studies and parametric/cost analyses.
• Proficiency with ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop.
• Familiarity with CNC manufacturing and GD&T, materials like carbon composites.
• Strong mechanical design skills and EMI/EMC mitigation knowledge.
• Understanding of thermal architectures and spaceflight environmental qualification.
• Experience with launch/LEO environments and design for test and manufacturability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end mechanical design and analysis for spacecraft subsystems from concept to flight readiness.
• Define requirements, perform architecture trades, and develop block diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineering and program management to ensure successful build and launch.
