Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Avionics Hardware Engineer to design, prototype, and test spacecraft avionics from component to system level. You will work in a multidisciplinary team to define architecture, build harnesses, and ensure reliable integration in spaceflight hardware.

You will lead power system design, perform on‑test fabrication, and apply radiation hardening concepts to meet mission requirements while collaborating with mechanical, thermal, and software teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of avionics and power hardware development experience for high‑reliability applications.
  • Hands‑on experience designing, building, and reworking wire harnesses and prototype electronics.
  • Experience with circuit analyses (Worst Case, Derating, Power, Timing).
  • Knowledge of space radiation effects on electronics and related design practices.
  • Experience with sensor types and analog/digital interfaces; schematic capture and PCB layout tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test spacecraft avionics systems.
  • Lead design and analysis of vehicle power systems and distribution.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and test hardware, including wiring and sensor integration.
  • Develop schematics, PCB layouts, and circuit simulations.
  • Create test plans and reports for hardware verification and validation.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware issues and support vehicle‑level testing.
