Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer in Colorado to lead Space Vehicle System design for the Blue Ring mobility program. You will own the architectural baseline, drive requirements, and provide technical leadership across spacecraft subsystems, software, and test facilities.

You will mentor engineers, influence program decisions, and collaborate with leadership to align technical execution with cost and schedule. A strong background in space systems and MBSE is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a engineering discipline related to space systems.
• 10+ years in spacecraft design and systems engineering with leadership roles.
• Proven cross-functional program leadership from concept to deployment.
• Knowledge of control theory, DSP, and closed-loop design for spacecraft.
• Experience defining system requirements, interfaces, and verification strategies.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural baseline development and long-term engineering roadmap.
• Lead requirements decomposition and interface control across subsystems.
• Provide technical direction for CONOPS and mission planning.
• Act as technical lead for milestone reviews and cross-program decisions.
• Identify and mitigate system-level risks; drive technology maturation.
• Oversee integration of spacecraft hardware, software, and control systems.
• Develop MBSE frameworks and hardware-in-the-loop / software-in-the-loop tests.
• Collaborate with leadership to align execution with cost, schedule, and mission goals.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, safety, and continuous learning.
• Support test campaigns and mission operations on-site and remotely.
