Job summary
Umbra seeks a Systems Engineering Manager to lead the Mission Solutions Systems Engineering group, overseeing architects, designers, and engineers from concept through delivery of satellite and mission tech.
You will collaborate with program management and leadership to ensure alignment with objectives, develop staff, and guide technical quality for mission success. This on-site role is based in Arlington, VA or Reston, VA.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of systems engineering experience with 3+ years in people management.
- 3+ years in space mission systems engineering.
- 3+ years managing complex technical projects from planning to execution.
- Proven leadership of engineering teams with hiring and performance management.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Establish & maintain systems engineering excellence within Mission Solutions.
- Lead and support the systems engineering group through full program lifecycles.
- Contribute to proposals and ensure technical content accuracy.
- Manage staff work, performance reviews, and career development.
- Plan staffing forecasts and collaborate on hiring and scope of work.
- Use agile practices to support sprint planning and tracking.
