Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Electrical Power Engineer to architect, analyze, and verify flight power subsystems for its TeraWave satellite payloads. You will lead design and qualification of isolated DC-DC converters up to 1 kW, and drive power architecture for reliable, flight-qualified hardware.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet stringent performance, mass, and environmental requirements while adhering to NASA/space industry standards.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical power electronics design.
• Experience designing isolated DC-DC converters up to 1 kW/120 VDC.
• Experience in space hardware applications.
• Proficient in power electronics analyses (WCA, derating, stability, power dissipation, transient response, reliability, DFMEA, DFT, DFM, EMI/C).
• Experience with SPICE-based tools (LTspice, SIMetrix or equivalent).
• Familiarity with NASA EEE-INST-002 standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and qualification of isolated DC-DC power conversion systems up to 1 kW.
• Design sub-1V, high-current POL converters with tight regulation.
• Develop power system architectures including filtering, sequencing, and distribution for satellites.
• Perform design verification analyses: WCA, derating, stability, thermal, transient, reliability, DFMEA, DFT, DFM, EMI/C.
• Support PCB layout reviews for power planes and thermal relief.
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, systems, optics, and RF teams for integration.
• Develop hardware bring-up, characterization, qualification, and test procedures.
• Lead design reviews and present results to peers and external stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with Blue Origin standards and space industry standards.
