Job summary

Columbia University seeks a Senior Space Planner to provide space planning and pre-design expertise for capital construction programs. You will structure programming and space planning for projects across locations, reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities Planning and engaging with academic and administrative leaders.

You will develop programming scenarios, generate floor plans, options, and deliverables, and work with architects, engineers, and vendors to meet deadlines and project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Planning, Interior Design, or related field with at least four years of practical experience.
• Experience in a University or similar institutional environment and with science lab planning and space programming preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.

Responsibilities

• Structures and manages programming and planning of space studies for capital construction projects.
• Day-to-day client interaction with Deans, Department Chairs, Faculty and administrators.
• Prepare, review and issue programming and space planning deliverables in graphic and quantitative formats.
• Collaborate with Facilities staff and external consultants to determine workflow and deadlines.
• Contribute to graphic development and standards for planning studies and deliverables.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
