Job summary

SmithGroup in Chicago seeks a Senior Space Planner to lead research-driven space planning projects across higher education and institutional settings. You will develop hypotheses and insights from data, manage scopes and fees, and collaborate with analysts to build space models for client analyses.

You will present findings to teams and clients, produce integrated project deliverables, and foster positive client relationships while aligning with studio goals.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Data Science or related field.
• 10+ years related experience preferred.
• Experience with higher education planning, space management, and/or institutional research.

Responsibilities

• Lead in research, analysis, and distillation of data to develop planning solutions and recommendations.
• Manage project scopes, fees, contracts, deliverables, and fee management for large planning projects.
• Work with data analysts to create space models and analyses for clients.
• Present findings and recommendations to internal teams and clients.
• Develop project presentations, plan reports, and deliverables for integrated outcomes.
• Build strong client relationships and balance expectations with contractual goals.
