Job summary

Varda Space Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Space Embedded Software Engineer in El Segundo, CA. You will design and implement flight software for spacecraft and reentry systems, shaping behavior and operations in orbit.

The role emphasizes ownership of all software phases from requirements through testing and flight support, using C++ for bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux environments. Strong emphasis on safety-critical aerospace systems and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in safety-critical software.
5+ years of experience in developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
Experience with real-time embedded hardware/software systems.
Experience with C++ and strong understanding of language concepts.

Responsibilities

Develop reliable firmware to control spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations.
Own all aspects of software development from design through testing and flight operations support.
Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades for open-ended problems.
Write quality structured bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
Build highly reliable software systems and ensure quality through verification and validation.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure mission success and software stability.
