Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for the Flight Software team. You will determine spacecraft behavior in orbit and build reliable software to enable mission success, covering design, development, testing, and in-flight support.

The role requires a degree in a technical field and 3+ years in safety-critical or spacecraft software, with C++ and real-time embedded systems experience. On-site work at our El Segundo facility is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent safety-critical software experience.
• 3+ years of experience in spacecraft or safety-critical software development.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware/software systems; C++ experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable firmware to control the spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule through the full mission.
• Own all aspects of software development, from design, testing, and integration.
• Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades for open-ended problems.
• Write quality structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Build highly reliable and available software systems.
• Ensure system quality and performance through software test, verification, and validation (V&V).
