Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to advise customers in Japan, translating AI‑powered DevSecOps value into business outcomes. You’ll drive structured discovery, lead demos and PoCs, design roadmaps, and shepherd adoption and expansion across products and editions.

You will collaborate with Account Executives, work with diverse stakeholders, and mentor team members while expanding GitLab consumption and customer value.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical pre‑sales, solutions architecture, consulting, technical sales, or similar customer‑facing role.
• Practical understanding of the software development lifecycle, DevSecOps, security, and cloud technologies, with experience using GitLab or comparable source control, continuous integration and continuous delivery, and developer collaboration platforms.
• Experience leading demos, workshops, proofs of concept or value, technical proposals, or solution architecture design.
• Ability to discuss deployment, security, and operations with customer technical teams and explain technical trade‑offs and business value.
• Familiarity with retrieval‑augmented generation and Model Context Protocol for AI‑enabled development.
• Ability to mentor team members and share reusable knowledge with empathy.
• Fluency in Japanese and professional working proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured discovery to understand customer business priorities, development processes, challenges, stakeholders, and success criteria.
• Collaborate with Account Executives on account strategies and customer action plans to move opportunities from evaluation to contract.
• Lead demos, workshops, proofs of concept, and architecture design, including Linux‑based and air‑gapped environments.
• Design roadmaps for DevSecOps and AI‑enabled development across the software lifecycle and plan migration timelines from Jenkins to GitLab.
• Resolve post‑sale adoption challenges with post‑sales teams and identify expansion opportunities.
• Build relationships with developers and leaders; articulate GitLab’s differentiators and address objections.
• Create reusable proposals, architecture diagrams, and success stories; present at events to support pipeline development.
• Share customer feedback with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing and mentor teammates.
