Job summary

Saint-Gobain in Garden Grove, CA seeks a Solutions Application Engineer to bridge customers, sales, operations and engineering. You will translate customer needs into engineered sealing solutions and support products through design and manufacturing.

The role demands strong engineering fundamentals, SolidWorks proficiency, and the ability to discuss technical concepts with diverse audiences while balancing manufacturing capabilities. Occasional travel to customer sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Material Science or Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Polymer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years experience in specialized industries/manufacturing with customer communication
• Understand customer application and build application expertise
• Proficient in SolidWorks and/or AutoCad
• Design and Develop sealing components
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Lead activities using project management tools

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to understand application requirements and recommend technical solutions
• Develop designs, proposal drawings and engineering documentation using SolidWorks
• Serve as the primary technical resource during customer discussions, design reviews and qualification activities
• Work closely with Sales to develop business opportunities and support customer visits
• Partner with Operations, Manufacturing and Quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet customer requirements
• Support DFM, MRB, product improvement and root cause analysis activities
• Coordinate technical projects across multiple functions and locations
• Travel to customer sites as needed to provide technical support and strengthen customer relationships
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of engineering standards and procedures
