Job summary

Actalent in Woburn, MA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to develop mechanical and electrical designs in SolidWorks from rough sketches and verbal instructions, with minimal supervision. You will create sheet metal components, build complex assemblies, and generate accurate drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities include evaluating trade-offs between performance, cost and schedule, driving design improvements, and providing product support from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Education: BSME; other degrees considered if substantial experience applies.
• 3+ years' hands-on CAD modeling in SolidWorks for mechanical assemblies up to 100 custom parts with 800+ off-the-shelf components.
• Experience designing sheet metal enclosures.
• Proficiency with PLM software and Oracle Cloud MRP.
• Knowledge of refrigeration systems is a major plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical and electrical designs in SolidWorks from sketches with minimal supervision.
• Create complex SolidWorks assemblies and drawings with proper dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Evaluate trade-offs between performance, cost, quality and schedule.
• Provide product support from concept to production.
• Travel limited to under 5% per year (domestic and international).
