Job summary

County of Maui seeks a senior manager to oversee the operation and maintenance of Maui County's solid waste facilities, including landfills and transfer stations. You will direct, plan, and coordinate activities to ensure efficient, compliant operations across Maui, Molokai, and Lanai.

The role requires strong leadership, experience with large facilities, and a proven track record of improving operations and safety programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required and five years of administrative/managerial experience in operation and maintenance of large industrial facilities or similar.
• Four of the five years must be in supervisory capacity.
• Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in Hawaii (Hawaii Type 3) is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and coordinate operation and maintenance of solid waste facilities and related equipment.
• Evaluate work practices and implement improvements to meet regulatory requirements and improve efficiency.
• Develop budgets, monitor expenditures and participate in long-term planning for capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, DOH, OSHA and other regulatory requirements; oversee safety programs and staff training.
• Consult with engineers, contractors, and superiors on plans, designs, and facility upgrades.
