Job summary

The County of Maui seeks a Senior Emergency Management Specialist V to lead complex emergency management activities within the County’s program. You will supervise professional staff, act as a project or team leader, and independently manage critical duties before, during, and after disasters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in emergency management or related field plus 3.5 years of EM experience.
• Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license (Hawaii Type 3).
• Knowledge of emergency management concepts, planning, and exercise design.
• Ability to lead, supervise, and coordinate with multiple agencies.

Responsibilities

• Review, develop and maintain plans and procedures for emergency response and disaster operations.
• Serve as lead to lower-level Emergency Management Specialists and supervise staff.
• Develop, manage, and participate in tabletop, functional or full-scale exercises.
• Serve as a specialized communications manager for emergency systems and warnings.
• Maintain documentation cycles and coordinate with stakeholders across agencies.
• Coordinate training/education activities and address corrective actions.
• Participate in meetings and public appearances to support preparedness efforts.
