Job summary

Lightsource bp is an international leader overseeing solar and energy storage assets across the United States. The Operations Engineer will optimize technical and commercial performance, collaborating with Operations Managers, Asset Managers, and O&M providers to recover value from underperformance.

The role focuses on data-driven analysis, remediation planning, and cross-functional coordination to improve portfolio results and support project handovers to operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with relevant experience.
• At least five years in a similar role supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• In-depth knowledge of NEC, UL, and NFPA codes.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% to project sites and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Establish a data-driven view of asset performance using SCADA and asset-level data.
• Identify recurring failures and underperformance trends across the portfolio.
• Develop automated reporting highlighting underperformance and recoverable losses.
• Quantify technical issues in energy and financial terms and prioritize interventions.
• Translate analytics into actionable operational steps and track value recovery.
• Support commissioning, operational readiness, and project handover to Operations and Asset Management.
