Zusammenfassung

Lightsource bp seeks an experienced Operations Engineer to optimize technical and commercial performance of operating solar and BESS assets across the United States. You’ll work with Operations Managers, Asset Managers, and O&M partners to identify underperformance, quantify energy and financial impacts, and drive value recovery.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Electrical Engineering; other relevant qualifications considered.
• At least five years of experience in a similar role supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, UL, and NFPA codes.
• Experience with SQL, Python, Snowflake, and Power BI is preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% to project sites and key meetings.
• Experience in utility-scale renewable energy project design, technical document review, and project management support.
• Knowledge of high-voltage substations and energy storage systems.
• Experience supporting commissioning, project closeout, operational readiness, and handover activities.
• Experience analyzing renewable energy project performance and losses using SCADA and time-series data.
• Ability to use analytics to identify, evaluate, and troubleshoot technical issues affecting operating assets.
• Experience assessing contractual performance and incorporating identified gaps into contract revisions.

Aufgaben

• Establish a data-driven view of asset performance using SCADA data.
• Identify recurring failures and underperformance trends across the portfolio.
• Develop automated reporting highlighting underperformance and recoverable losses.
• Compare SCADA findings with O&M partner reporting and investigate differences.
• Quantify issues in energy and financial terms to prioritize interventions.
• Develop remediation plans with Asset Managers, including business cases.
• Translate analysis into actionable operational steps and track value recovery.
• Support commissioning, operational readiness, and project handovers.
• Scope, review, and accept technical deliverables from external partners.
• Validate project and performance metrics and support remediation of issues.
• Incorporate lessons learned into project designs and execution stages.
• Collaborate with Global Performance and Monitoring teams on reporting improvements.
• Document and streamline processes to improve efficiency.
• Serve as a technical lead with regional and global stakeholders.
