Job summary

Lightsource bp is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to optimize the performance of solar and BESS assets across the United States. You will work with Operations Managers, Asset Managers, and O&M partners to identify underperformance, quantify energy and financial impacts, and drive improvements using SCADA and time-series data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Minimum of five years supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects or similar.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, UL, NFPA codes.
• Experience with SCADA, time-series data, and analytics for asset performance.

Responsibilities

• Establish data-driven asset performance views using SCADA and asset data.
• Identify recurring failures and underperformance trends across the portfolio.
• Develop automated reports highlighting underperformance and potential recoveries.
• Quantify technical issues in energy and financial terms and prioritize interventions.
• Partner with Asset Managers to develop remediation plans and business cases.
• Translate analyses into actionable operations and track value recovery.
• Support commissioning, readiness, and handover to Operations teams.
• Review technical deliverables from external partners and ensure quality.
