GAF Energy develops solar laminates in the lab, prototyping and testing new materials to meet PV and roofing standards, and collaborating with suppliers to bring innovative products to production. The role requires a Master’s in Physics, Materials Science, or Electrical Engineering; PhD preferred, with 5+ years in solar module R&D, and deep knowledge of PV circuits and reliability.

Travel up to 20% in the US and globally.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree Physics, Materials Science, or Electrical Engineering required.
  • Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) preferred.
  • 5+ years in R&D in a lab setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years doing solar module R&D, design and testing.
  • Deep knowledge of solar module electrical circuits and material integration for best PV generation and 25+ year reliability.
  • Must understand key PV failure modes, materials, and testing best practices (like UL/IEC certification).

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on Development: design and prototype solar laminates/shingles in the lab.
  • Testing Guru: ensure products meet performance goals and work with reliability teams.
  • Innovate: develop new materials and designs with suppliers/collaborators.
  • Use software (optical, electrical, thermal) to speed up the design process.
  • Problem Solver: tackle complex issues with solid reasoning.
  • Lead a Little: mentor and become an expert on solar laminate development and manufacturing.
  • Team Player: collaborate to plan, develop, and launch new solar products.
  • Communicate: present concepts and results to executives and stakeholders.
