Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance (BHDIC) is seeking a senior software engineer to contribute as a technical expert and individual contributor on a hybrid team. You will mentor peers, lead design and planning, and drive RESTful API development within a cloud-first enterprise platform.

Candidates should have deep C#/.NET experience, Azure cloud service design, and a track record building scalable architectures in a cross-functional, agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/related field or equivalent working experience.
• 10+ years of experience as a software developer, primarily using C#.
• 3+ years in a senior technical role.
• Experience delivering RESTful APIs, cloud services (Azure), and enterprise integrations.
• Experience with monolithic and microservice architectures and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as a senior technical resource on an agile development team.
• Serve as technical SME for a domain within the platform.
• Provide guidance and mentoring including code reviews and coaching.
• Design system features aligning with business objectives within the enterprise platform.
• Contribute to cross-team platform design decisions and product collaboration.
• Ensure requirements meet short- and long-term business objectives with quality standards.
• Create technical documentation and share knowledge across the team.
• Deliver regular code contributions aligned with user stories and sprint goals.
• Guide unit testing and collaborate with QA for testing success.
• Support system performance goals and security mindset.
• Occasional travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton PA for strategy meetings.
