Job summary

Block is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Cash App Taxes to design and implement backend features powering tax filing. You will translate complex tax rules into maintainable code and collaborate with tax experts, product managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, reliability, and a great user experience.

You will own large-scale systems, drive architectural decisions, mentor peers, and contribute to coding standards while applying an AI-first approach to improve the tax

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience in fast-paced environments
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience in backend development and architecture
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Tax industry experience is a major plus
• Passion for building innovative software

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own high-quality features for Cash App Taxes',' from federal/state form logic to e-file submission
• Translate tax rules into clean, maintainable code with Tax Product Specialists
• Build tools and guardrails enabling non-technical contributors to safely make changes
• Drive architectural decisions to keep software scalable, secure, and maintainable
• Write reliable, well-tested code and establish best practices for deployment and docs
• Collaborate with QA, Tax Product Specialists, Cloud Platform, Design, Product, and Customer Care
• Mentor teammates through code reviews and knowledge sharing
• Stay updated on emerging tech and best practices to refine processes
• Apply an AI-first mindset to raise the bar of AI usage on the team
