Block, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer for the Cash App Taxes Engine Server team in an environment that supports remote work globally.

You will transform complex tax requirements into robust software powering millions of tax filings, collaborating with tax experts and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and reliability. Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Backend development with system design, architecture, and OOP.
• Proven track record delivering reliable software on schedule.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent.
• Passion for building innovative software that simplifies processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own features and systems powering the Cash App Taxes filing experience, including form logic and e-file submission.
• Translate tax rules into clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with Tax Product Specialists.
• Create tools and guardrails for safe code changes by non-technical contributors.
• Drive architectural and design decisions to keep tax software scalable, secure, and maintainable.
• Write reliable, well-tested code and set coding/deployment/documentation standards.
• Collaborate with QA, Tax Product Specialists, Cloud Platform, Design, Product, and Customer Care.
• Identify and resolve issues related to accuracy and performance while balancing new features and maintenance.
• Stay informed on emerging tech and AI integration to improve processes.
