Job summary

Slate is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to design and build features for a direct-to-consumer EV platform. You will own end-to-end delivery of complex features, collaborate with product and UX, and influence customer experience across theSlate platform.

You will design and implement scalable web services and APIs, work with cloud infrastructure, and mentor teammates while balancing speed with long-term quality in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience building customer-facing software systems.
• Experience owning the design and delivery of complex features or services, and making sound technical trade-offs.
• Experience building reliable, scalable web services and APIs, with working knowledge of cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to solve complex problems, simplify where possible, and deliver high-quality work with minimal direction.
• Experience integrating third-party services through APIs, events, or webhooks.
• Experience with ecommerce or marketplace systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver complex features and services, and decide the technical approach on new assignments.
• Code and test system components and provide thoughtful code and design reviews.
• Own end-to-end quality for your work, including unit, functional, and integration tests.
• Simplify complex problems with creativity and good judgment.
• Collaborate with UX and product teams to translate customer needs into solutions.
• Act as a trusted technical resource and make sound trade-offs in your area.
• Communicate how technical choices impact customers and the business, raising risks early.
• Build relationships, coordinate work, and mentor teammates.
