Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable APIs and frontend features using C#/.NET and Angular/React. The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, adherence to Agile practices, and delivering high-quality software every sprint.

Telecommute from anywhere in the United States. The candidate should have 5+ years in software engineering, strong C#/.NET, and modern frontend experience, plus CI/CD and cloud exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering.
• 5+ year of professional experience in C# and .NET development.
• 5+ years of experience with unit/integration testing.
• 3+ years of professional experience building services or full stack applications using FastAPI, Flask, Node.js, React, Angular, TypeScript, and HTML/CSS.
• 3+ years of professional experience working with CI/CD deployment pipelines and Git-based workflows.
• 3+ years of experience developing solutions hosted in Azure/AWS.
• 1+ year of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code.

Responsibilities

• Perform all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, code development and testing.
• Help teams improve efficiency, quality and speed of their development processes.
• Rally entire cross-functional teams around major goals and initiatives.
• Design and implement product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.
• Design reusable components, frameworks and libraries; work with architecture groups.
• Participate in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver software releases every 2 weeks.
