Optum Technology is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-throughput applications across the full stack using Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, React, and TypeScript.

The role emphasizes CI/CD, DevOps practices, and collaboration with architects and peers to drive modern engineering workflows while leveraging AI tools to boost productivity and innovation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing and developing back-end services with Java, Spring, Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
• 3+ years working on large-scale, high-throughput distributed apps, owning key components.
• 2+ years full-stack engineering across front-end and back-end layers.
• 2+ years contributing to DevOps practices including CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and containerization (Docker).
• 1+ year in system design discussions with senior engineers/architects.
• 1+ year of refactoring legacy components to improve reliability and scalability.
• 1+ year of clear technical communication and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput distributed back-end services using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
• Contribute across full-stack engineering from UI to database and API integrations.
• Participate in system design, architecture discussions, and delivery planning with senior engineers and architects.
• Advance DevOps practices by contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and containerization (Docker).
• Identify technical improvements and refactor legacy components to improve reliability and maintainability.
• Review peers' code and designs and communicate technical concepts across teams.
• Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows and automate tasks.
