Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive design, development, and modernization of scalable enterprise applications supporting healthcare and PBM systems. You will build cloud-native microservices, event-driven architectures, and secure RESTful APIs in an Agile environment, delivering high-quality solutions that advance our cloud modernization roadmap.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or 4+ years of software development experience.
6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
4+ years with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka or JMS.
4+ years with observability platforms (Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana).
3+ years building cloud-native apps on Azure/AWS/GCP using Docker and Kubernetes.
3+ years relational DB, data modeling, and Agile/Scrum.
2+ years AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot).

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy scalable microservices and cloud-native apps.
Implement secure RESTful APIs and messaging systems like Kafka.
Design AI-powered solutions addressing business challenges.
Leverage AI tools to streamline workflows and improve code quality.
Monitor health and troubleshoot across environments using observability tools.
