Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of complex applications for the VA Data Modernization initiative. This fully remote role is based in the United States, offering collaboration with cross-functional teams and opportunities to mentor mid-level engineers.

You will drive architectural decisions, implement robust CI/CD pipelines, and ensure secure, scalable solutions across modern software development lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field; 12+ years experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of complex applications.
• Apply Agile/Scrum practices to manage work.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate with architects and product managers to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices.
• Design robust CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Improve delivery pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment strategies.
• Ensure security, reliability, and compliance of applications.
