Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Data Modernization initiative. The engineer will lead the design, development, and deployment of complex applications as part of a cross-domain solution.

This position is fully remote, based in the United States. The role requires expertise in Java frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA), REST APIs, and modern software practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• 12 years of experience in software engineering or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of complex applications within a cross-domain solution.
• Utilize Agile/Scrum for managing and delivering work.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers and cross-functional teams to define technical solutions.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and enforce best practices.
• Design robust CI/CD pipelines and improve delivery processes.
