Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the VA Data Modernization initiative. The role is fully remote within the United States, leading design, development, and deployment of complex applications as part of a cross-domain solution.

Responsibilities include technical leadership, mentoring, and ensuring security, reliability, and compliance through automated CI/CD pipelines and DevOps collaboration. Strong Java, JavaScript, and database skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of experience.
• Expertise with Java Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JPA.
• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript.
• RESTful services and API design.
• Git or GitHub experience in Agile/Scrum.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM knowledge.
• Unit/integration testing and TDD.
• Effective English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of complex applications as part of a cross-domain solution.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mid-level engineers.
• Design robust CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with DevOps.
• Ensure security, reliability, and compliance through design and automation.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices.
