Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the VA Data Modernization initiative. The role involves leading design, development, and deployment of complex applications as part of a cross-domain solution.

This position is fully remote within the United States. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java, Spring, Hibernate/JPA, REST services, and modern front-end technologies, plus strong Agile experience and a track record of mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of complex applications in a cross-domain solution.
• Apply Agile methodologies to manage and deliver modernization work.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate across teams to define technical solutions aligned with business goals.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices in software engineering.
• Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.
