GovCIO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead design, development, and deployment of complex applications as part of the VA Data Modernization initiative. This role is fully remote and based in the United States.

You will mentor mid‑level engineers, drive CI/CD pipelines, ensure security and compliance, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable software in an Agile environment. A 12+ year background and strong Java/J2EE skills are required.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field plus 12 years experience.
• Expertise with Java frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JPA
• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript
• Deep understanding of object‑oriented programming, design patterns, and Java best practices
• Senior experience with RESTful web services and API design
• Experience with version control systems (Git using ADO or GitHub)
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams
• Excellent English communication, both oral and written
• Self‑motivation, organization, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM tools
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and TDD
• Strong analytical and collaborative skills
