Job summary

Upbound Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Draper, UT to contribute across the full software lifecycle, from design to deployment.

You will design, code, test, and support applications and interfaces, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver features on schedule. You'll mentor junior engineers and drive architecture discussions, applying best practices with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes to deliver scalable APIs and highly available

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years building complex applications, highly available systems, and integrating third‑party APIs.
• Proficient with Ruby on Rails and familiar with TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js.
• Experience with AWS and cloud platforms; PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Elixir, Kotlin, Python or Java.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and other container tech.
• Experience using AI tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot.
• Strong software development principles and design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, troubleshoot, document, and support applications and interfaces.
• Ability to work independently to deliver quality software on schedule.
• Analyze requirements and design safe changes to minimize risk.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and deliver features.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and promote continuous learning.
