Job summary

Lithic, the modern card issuing and processing platform, invites a Senior Software Engineer to join the Product Platform team. You will shape the foundational API layer used by all Lithic products, building reliable, scalable backend services with emphasis on API design and security.

Work is remote with US-based eligibility; collaborate asynchronously with a distributed team across time zones and contribute to key areas like API gateway, events, and key management. Equity is included.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building production backend systems.
• Experience with Rust or willingness to learn Rust; reading code in other languages (Python, Java).
• Interest in using AI tools to boost productivity.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive practical solutions.
• Experience with API design fundamentals and product thinking: versioning, backward compatibility, schema-driven development, customer perspective.

Responsibilities

• Write reliable, secure, and scalable code for Lithic's product platform with minimal tech debt
• Improve the reliability of systems within the team and participate in on-call rotation
• Own projects from planning to launch across areas like API key management, reliability, audit logging, or search
• Lead efforts to improve systems and processes within the team
