Job summary

Lithic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Processing team to lead our next growth phase. You will own high‑reliability, low‑latency interfaces between Lithic and external payment networks, handling authorization, clearing, and settlement with Mastercard, Visa, and Amex.

The role focuses on scalable, secure systems with strong uptime requirements. You will join a team of 170+ across 26 states and 7 countries, working in a hybrid remote model with NYC office proximity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience shipping code in production environments.
• Advanced distributed systems instincts and design skills.
• Experience driving large cross-functional projects across engineering, product, and operations.
• Proven empathy and inclusion.
• Growth mindset and continuous learning.
• Interest in fintech and payments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high reliability, low latency, and correctness for Lithic's transaction processing interfaces and services.
• Develop new capabilities across authorization, clearing/settlement, disputes, and network integration.
• Ensure reliable, secure, and scalable code with minimal tech debt.
• Evolve infrastructure for network peering with card networks, ensuring connectivity and capacity.
• Own initiatives from planning to launch with stakeholder alignment.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
• Lead efforts to improve systems and processes within and across teams.
• Help drive strategic planning with engineering and product management.
