Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and own the runtime production environment that bridges applications to the platform. You will drive platform architecture, set engineering standards, and act as the technical anchor between application and platform teams.

This hands-on leadership role requires ownership of platform strategy end-to-end, including defining roadmaps, solving cross-domain problems, and mentoring engineers, with emphasis on DevSecOps practices

Qualifications

• US citizenship and eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Expertise in solving highly technical problems across multiple knowledge domains.
• Deep knowledge in 1–2 technologies such as pipelines, GitOps, Kubernetes or Go.
• Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes and container-based systems.
• Expert in YAML and security automation.
• Proficient with security automation and knowledge of API, container and cloud security.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain scalable runtime production environments across cloud-native systems.
• Own the technical roadmap for platform vertical and align with mission objectives.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across teams.
• Identify overlaps and guide teams for efficient delivery.
• Collaborate with Mission Managers and product teams on technical roadmaps.
