Job summary

McKinsey & Company seeks a senior software engineer to join the Life Sciences AI team, integrated with QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey. You will design and build agentic, full-stack applications addressing high-value Pharma and MedTech use cases, across multiple North American offices including Charlotte.

You will produce production-ready systems, collaborate with distributed teams, and contribute to industry-shaping tools while growing as a technology leader within McKinsey's global network.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing full-stack applications.
• Experience building agentic AI agents and multi-agent workflows, including tool calls, memory, planning, and HITL patterns.
• Experience with cloud platforms and containers (AWS, Azure, Docker) for deploying and managing applications; API development; UI framework (React.js, Next.js).
• Knowledge graphs to structure data and ground GenAI/LLM applications is a plus.
• Experience working with other developers and non-technical stakeholders in Agile teams; strong and clear communication.

• Design and build differentiated agentic and full-stack applications across Life Sciences.
• Transform pilots into production-ready systems that reshape end-to-end workflows.
• Independently design and deliver small to mid-sized agentic assets addressing complex client problems.
• Contribute to industry-shaping tools and reusable components powering future capabilities.
• Collaborate with distributed teams and stakeholders to deliver impactful analytics solutions.
• Write high-quality modular code and assess feasibility of innovative solutions.
• Grow as a technologist and leader within McKinsey's global network.
