Job summary

State of Washington is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Lead for a remote role open to Washington residents and those in Oregon and Idaho. You will design, code, test, deploy, and maintain complex applications supporting public health programs and operations.

You will lead architecture, develop database solutions using SQL Server and Azure Synapse, and guide other developers while ensuring security and reliability across Washington’s digital health programs.

Qualifications

• Professional experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications.
• Recent experience with SQL and .NET tools.
• Experience building web apps with .NET/C#.
• Relational databases using SQL/T‑SQL.
• Developing or integrating RESTful APIs and web services.
• Modern JavaScript frameworks (React/Angular/Vue).
• Agile methodologies throughout SDLC.
• Knowledge of architecture, testing, source control, security, deployment.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise applications, write tests and production code.
• Lead architecture and implementations for cloud-hosted services and integrations.
• Develop and maintain database solutions and reporting tools with SQL Server/Azure.
• Troubleshoot complex application, DB, performance, and security issues.
• Lead code reviews, automated tests, performance analysis, CI/CD.
• Mentor developers, assign work, set technical standards, hands-on coaching.
• Plan system upgrades and technology transitions for reliability.
• Create documentation, implementation plans, and development standards.
