Job summary

Washington State Department of Health invites applications for a Senior Software Engineer, Lead. This home-based (remote) role is open to Washington residents and to applicants in Oregon and Idaho, enabling you to design, code, test, deploy, and maintain critical public health applications.

You will lead technical architecture, mentor developers, and deliver secure, scalable solutions using .NET, SQL Server, and cloud services such as Azure Synapse.

Qualifications

• Extensive software development experience across design, development, testing and deployment.
• Recent experience with SQL, .NET, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience building web apps using .NET/C# and modern JS frameworks.
• Proficiency with relational databases, SQL/T-SQL.
• Familiarity with Agile software development and CI/CD.
• Strong focus on security and deployment practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise applications with secure production code.
• Lead architecture and cloud/service integrations.
• Develop and maintain SQL Server / Azure data solutions.
• Troubleshoot performance and security issues.
• Oversee code reviews, testing, and CI/CD.
• Mentor developers and provide hands-on coaching.
• Plan system upgrades and improvements.
• Create technical documentation and development standards.
