Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support and enhance our legacy Distributed Control System (DCS) software solutions. In this role you will combine technical expertise, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of our mission-critical automation systems across a diverse customer base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline.
• 5+ years in software support, maintenance, or industrial automation.
• Strong C++ development for Windows with Visual Studio experience.
• Experience with Git source control and software lifecycles.
• Analytical, with good troubleshooting and logs interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain expertise in legacy products, tools, and technologies.
• Maintain, enhance, and modify software for reliability, security, and usability.
• Design and execute test plans and support integration activities.
• Support release activities, including patching and change control.
• Provide advanced technical support for automation software and resolve customer issues.
• Analyze data and logs to identify requirements and troubleshoot production issues.
• Coordinate with field engineers to drive issues to resolution.
• Develop and maintain support tools, scripts, and processes.
• Perform root cause analysis and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge bases.
