Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and validate in-vehicle Ethernet networks powering the Software-Defined Vehicle architecture. You will work across physical and virtual test assets, focusing on functional verification and performance metrics, including temporal behavior, to enhance end-to-end network health and CI/CD test pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant discipline.
• Three or more years of experience developing software and validating networks using Python, Rust or C++.
• Knowledge of computer networking protocols, network architecture, and automotive Ethernet technologies including SOME/IP and TCP/IP.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, network troubleshooting, simulation and analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Deploy test automation across physical and virtual test assets.
• Develop solutions for assessment of temporal behavior for a network under test.
• Develop test automation for validation of core elements across a full-stack Ethernet solution.
• Integrate released software builds and design artifacts with test infrastructure to increase end-to-end network health assessment.
• Perform extensive functional and temporal evaluation of key networking protocols and solutions (e.g., gPTP, traffic shaping).
• Evaluate new hardware and software solutions to support next-generation architectures.
