Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Wallet/Authentication Platform in Mountain View, CA. You will build core sign-in, registration, MFA, and account management experiences used by millions of members across agencies and brands.

Work ends-to-end on the authentication stack, balancing security, usability, and trust at scale. Collaborate with Product, Design and Security while driving measurable improvements in reliability and velocity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with a strong emphasis on full-stack web engineering.
• 1+ years of experience with AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) demonstrated by at least daily use, in addition to an AI-first engineering culture.
• 3+ years of experience in Java and Spring Boot, with hands-on experience building and operating production web services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and improve the ID.me Wallet authentication experience—from sign-in to MyWallet.
• Own real-time risk and abuse detection across authentication flows while preserving a low-friction user experience.
• Write high-quality, tested code with strong CI/CD and documentation practices.
• Integrate with MFA providers and identity services, and collaborate with internal teams.
• Partner with Product, Design, Security and other engineers to ship cohesive auth experiences.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and help set team standards.
