Job summary

McKesson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS) R&D organization. You will lead complex technical initiatives for the EnterpriseRx platform, mentor teams, and drive Agile practices across design, development, and delivery.

You will collaborate with Product, QA, and Operations, work with Angular, Spring Boot, SQL, Azure, Docker, and AI tools, and mentor peers while ensuring scalable, high‑quality software delivery. Limited travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in Java (17/21+), Spring Boot, and Gradle.
• Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka.
• Microservices design and API-first design (OpenAPI, OAuth2).
• Relational databases and SQL (Oracle); Snowflake knowledge a plus.
• SDLC and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for one or more software engineering teams across the full development lifecycle.
• Architect scalable solutions and refine design requirements with stakeholders.
• Lead technical design discussions and code reviews.
• Develop and review User Stories; write unit and integration tests.
• Remediate defects and ensure quality and stability of code.
• Mentor peers through code reviews, debugging, and refactoring.
• Drive process improvements and embed AI across the SDLC.
• Communicate complex topics to business leaders during Sprint Reviews.
• Understand retail pharmacy domain to align with customer needs.
