Job summary

McKesson Corporation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS) R&D team. You will lead complex technical initiatives for the EnterpriseRx platform, mentor peers, and guide teams through Agile ceremonies while delivering secure, scalable software.

You will collaborate with Product, QA, and Operations using Angular, Spring Boot, SQL, Azure, Docker, and AI-assisted tools. Limited travel may be required in a hybrid Columbus, OH-based role.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent with 7+ years software engineering experience.
• 7+ years of relevant software engineering; Master's +4 years alternative.
• Proficiency in Java (17/21+), Spring Boot, and Gradle.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Microservices design with API-first approach and OpenAPI.
• Relational databases with SQL (Oracle); Snowflake a plus.
• SDLC and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).
• Strong security practices; SOC1/SOC2/PHI familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical leadership for one or more software teams through full development lifecycle.
• Architect scalable solutions and guide design decisions with stakeholders.
• Actively participate in technical design and code reviews across apps.
• Develops and reviews User Stories; writes unit and integration tests.
• Remediates defects thoroughly; improves surrounding code quality.
• Mentors peers and establishes engineering standards for reliability.
• Identifies security vulnerabilities and promotes secure coding practices.
• Drives process improvements and embeds AI across the SDLC.
• Leads technical conversations with business leaders during reviews.
• Understands retail pharmacy domain and how customers use McKesson products.
