Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead design, development, testing, and maintenance of software for Cancer Diagnostics. You will mentor junior engineers, own critical technical decisions, and ensure high-quality software by following design controls and best practices.

You will work within a cross-functional team, tackling complex problems, adopting cloud-based solutions, and delivering reliable software in a regulated healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• Understanding of software development design and development, and domain-specific skills.
• Experience with object-oriented programming.
• RESTful web services, relational databases (Postgres, SQL Server), and ORM technologies.
• Experience with cloud-based frameworks (Azure, AWS).
• Familiarity with Agile tools including JIRA and Confluence.
• Experience with STARLIMS custom code.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications for Abbott Cancer Diagnostics.
• Make key technical decisions and mentor junior team members.
• Develop and sustain software systems following design controls and engineering best practices.
