Job summary

Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Elasticsearch - Analytical Engine team. This globally distributed, remote role focuses on building analytics features in Elasticsearch's new compute engine using ES|QL.

You will design, implement, and improve data-intensive capabilities while collaborating across time zones and teams. You will contribute as a seasoned Java developer, working with data storage tech and AI-enabled tooling, and aligning with the company’s distributed culture and

Qualifications

• Strong in core Java and standard data structures.
• Experience with software systems engineering.
• Desire to optimize data structures and algorithms.
• Autonomy to lead projects from start to finish.
• Collaborative development with asynchronous collaboration is a plus.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development.

Responsibilities

• Develop data-intensive new features and fix intriguing bugs in Elasticsearch's analytics engine.
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams to ensure a good user experience and robust APIs.
• Improve areas of Elasticsearch based on inquiry and instincts.
• Triaging and handling issues and PRs with the community.
• Write idiomatic modern Java and leverage ES|QL for analytics features.
